Worship Council

As we are a Church of England school, we want to help our school community to understand and enjoy worshipping God. Our Worship Council members have been elected by their class, and we meet fortnightly in order to discuss ways in which we promote and improve Christian Distinctiveness at Derry Hill.

This is what we do:

  • Help to lead worship.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of worship.
  • Discuss worship and make suggestions in how it can be even better.
  • Help choose worship songs.
  • Contribute ideas for prayers.
  • Keep the prayer box updated with new prayers from each class.
  • Think and talk about the Christian ethos of our school and make suggestions in how it can be improved.
  • Look for children who are demonstrating the Christian value we are focusing on each term.
  • Meet with Foundation Governors to share and discuss our ideas.

Our 2024-2025 Worship Council members are:

Squirrel Class –

Rabbit Class –

Fox Class –

Owl Class –

Some of our plans for the year include:

  • Helping to lead Worship and hymn practice.
  • Evaluating the daily Worship and offering ideas for improvement.
  • ‘How you can tell we are a Church School’ display
  • Creating a book for visitors to be left in the main entrance which highlights how we show our Christian Distinctiveness.
  • Ensuring that all classes have a reflection corner and up-to-date RE displays
